Abstract

Cultural diversity is one of the significant characteristics of Brazil Santa Catarina. Religious Education (ER, from the acronym in portuguese) in the state, has followed and often instigated national movements that resulted in the definition of a non-confessional curricular component (Brazil, 2017). With the approval of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC) in 2017, all educational systems of the federative units (states and municipalities) were required to adapt this common base to their realities and necessities. This text purpose to contextualize Religious Education in Santa Catarina based on the Fundamental Curriculum of the Territory of Santa Catarina for Early Childhood and Elementary Education (CBTC, from the acronym in portuguese) in 2019, its impacts and contributions in the formative path of the component, in teacher training, and in the teaching and learning processes, in relation to the BNCC.
