Abstract

This article is grounded in the experience of working with Religious Education in the State Department of Education of Rio de Janeiro, emphasizing the challenges involved in structuring and implementing a curricular framework that accommodates all faiths while respecting the religious plurality present in public schools. In addition to addressing the development of this curricular framework, the article examines the legal framework that supports Religious Education in Brazil, with particular emphasis on the specific legislation of Rio de Janeiro, and evaluates the model adopted in the state. Finally, it highlights the essential role of this curricular component in promoting inter-religious dialogue and fostering respect for cultural and religious diversity, establishing it as a central element of inclusive and humanizing education aligned with the demands of contemporary society.
