A relação literária entre Gn 14 e a história de Abraão (Gn 12-25)

Abstract

In view of the wide range of interpretations attributed to Genesis 14, many scholars regard this pericope as a dissonant element in relation to the broader Abraham narrative (Gen 12–25) and to the book of Genesis as a whole. Taking this perception as a point of departure, the present study examines the literary articulation between Genesis 14 and the Abraham cycle. About the methodology employed, the research adopts the principles of narrative analysis synthesized by Robert Alter, with particular attention to the identification of Leitwort and the recurrence of type‑scenes throughout the larger Abraham narrative. The analysis highlights the repetition and development of the themes of offspring and land, discernible in the subtle features of the account and functioning as secondary guiding threads that run through the war‑centered episode.
