Abstract

This text is about bodies that transcend themselves in music, experience understood as analogous to the religious experience. The strength of rock’n’roll riffs with their guitars and the symbolism that cigarette advertisements set in motion in the 1980s and 90s are understood as experiences of meaning opposed to a one-dimensional understanding of the world. The underlying argument is, in turn, constructed in dialogue with Rubem Alves’ theopoetics.
